Human Resources

At the City of Greer, we recognize that the success of our community hinges on the dedication and well-being of our most valuable resource: our employees. The Human Resources Department is committed to supporting Team Greer with the programs, resources, and tools needed to create a respectful and thriving workplace. We are dedicated to helping foster an environment that values employees, promotes growth, and encourages productivity.

Our goal is to enhance the quality of work life for all employees, strengthen job satisfaction, and support professional development. By focusing on creating a positive and empowering work environment, we ensure our team can effectively serve the community while achieving their personal and professional goals.

We offer a range of services to support both the organization and its workforce, including benefits administration, classification and compensation, and management counsel on key organizational matters. We also assist with employee recruitment, orientation, and recognition while ensuring clear communication, safety, and ongoing training. The Human Resources Department plays a vital role in maintaining a workplace where employees are valued, supported, and equipped to make a meaningful impact in the City of Greer.

The City of Greer’s Human Resource Department’s mission is to strategically manage and develop our workforce by attracting, retaining and developing high-performance employees, ensuring a positive work environment and aligning employee goals with the City’s overall objectives, ultimately contributing to the organizational success through effective human capital practices.

Our Department is responsible for promoting and recruiting the most qualified candidates and ensuring an effective hiring process. We promote the City of Greer as an Employer of Choice and work to remain competitive in the marketplace.

We strive to retain our employees by providing a competitive salary and benefits package. We develop the full potential of our workforce by providing training and development for career enhancement and promoting employee engagement.

HR provides consultation, services and solutions for leadership and employees as well as develops and maintains policies and procedures. We ensure a safe and healthy workplace environment by maintaining compliance with employment and labor laws and government regulations while remaining fair and ethical.

Our services are achieved by being proactive and balancing professionalism with the ability to have a work-life balance.

Benefits

The City of Greer offers a comprehensive benefits package that provides a wide range of options to meet the unique needs of our employees and their families. All coverage options become effective on the first day of the following 30 days from the employee's hire date.

Employee contributions for insurance premiums, flexible spending accounts, deferred compensation, and the city's retirement plans are all deducted on pre-tax basis. This means that these deductions are applied before federal, state, and Social Security taxes are calculated, reducing gross pay and, in turn, lowering taxable income.
