Heads up City of Greer residents: the City Park amphitheater stage will be closed on Monday, August 19 for staining and will reopen on Friday, August 23. There will be barricades surrounding the area while the contractor works. If all goes well and if weather permits, the stage will reopen on Friday. If the weather changes things, we’ll be sure to update you!

The Greer Cultural Arts Council’s Arts in Action Summer Camp just wrapped up a few weeks ago! Each camp took place over three days with three total camps, all with different themes and activities for kids to participate in. Each camp included classes in art, dance, drama, music, clay and even magic!
On Wednesday this week, Greer Police Department and Greer Fire Department held a Block Party in Sunnyside! It took place at Dunbar CDC and was a blast for the kids that came out. Kids and parents got to meet their local police and fire officers, all while sharing a snack and hanging out. Thank you to everyone who came out, we hope to see you soon for Coffee with a Cop next week!
Last week during the July 23 City Council meeting, The Platform at Greer and Greer Moves unveiled the big check of $10,000 to one lucky Bootcamp graduate! Rich Johnston, founder of Performance Enhancement Delivery was one such winner! Rich was among the 11 other Platform Bootcamp graduates who submitted an application for this latest round of grant funding. The check was handed out by Philippe Barreaud from Michelin Innovation Lab and Brooke Rennison from BMW. Congratulations to Rich for being the 3rd recipient of the Greer Moves Grant Award! We look forward to what’s next from you and the other Platform at Greer Bootcamp Graduates!

Road work ahead! Construction is set to begin today on Mountain View Road. The work zone starts south of Fews Bridge Road and goes to Highway 414. Drivers should expect land closures and delays. Work will continue until the end of October. We’ll keep you updated with any changes!

Celebrate Christmas in July by thinking about your donations for this year’s Cops for Tots initiative. The program is organized by the Greer Police Department and helps make sure all children have gifts for Christmas. Mark your calendar for the first fundraiser at Chick-Fil-A on November 2, and remember you can always drop off new, unwrapped toys or monetary donations to Cops for Tots at the Police Department.
