The center will serve as Greer Relief’s new center for essential services and will help serve the less fortunate in our community.
We’re excited to announce along with City of Greer Parks, Recreation & Tourism that Century Park has been nominated for the 2025 KABOOM Awards through Kidding Around Greenville!
Century Park has been nominated under the Best Family Fun category for Best Outdoor Fun and Best Playground. This is the first round of nominations with more to follow, so we need your help.

We've got a small ForGreer update for you! A few weeks ago, we got our first look at what some of the materials might look like for the upcoming Depot Street Parking Garage. Architect Adam Thoma of HKM Architects + Planners, Inc. brought in some of the samples for us to look at. Enjoy the behind-the-scenes look!

It’s time for another look in the Greerview as we both recap last week and look ahead with what will be going on this week in the City of Greer!
This week, we take a look back at: Officer Julius Thompson recently being sworn in to the Greer Police Department, new outdoor basketball courts coming to Stevens Field, and the recent grand re-opening of the Walmart on East Wade Hampton.
Looking ahead, we have: Greer Relief hosting a ribbon cutting at its new impact center, an update about trash pickup for this Labor Day week, and a ForGreer project update.

The City of Greer hopes you’ve had a great Labor Day so far! As a reminder, the City’s offices, facilities, and services are closed today. Trash collection will also be a day behind this week due to the holiday.
The first week of September in Greer is a quiet one. We don’t have anything planned other than letting you know that we will be closed for Labor Day tomorrow. We hope you’ve had a great Labor Day weekend so far!
Going grocery shopping this weekend? If so, the Walmart in Greer has got you covered with their grand reopening! The Walmart on 14055 E. Wade Hampton Boulevard just had a reopening celebration yesterday morning after several new renovations. Speakers included the store manager and Mayor Danner.
The renovations include: interior and exterior improvements, increased checkout stations, improved pick-up and delivery options and a mural at the entrance representing the spirit and history of Greer.
We’re excited to finally be able to tell you where new basketball courts will be! You’ll soon be able to shoot some hoops over at Stevens Field. They’ll be built in the grassy area near Line Street—check out the site plan below.
This project will take a little longer than you might think, because we are also making improvements to the stormwater system in that area as we prepare the site for the courts. Once the project goes out to bid, the process will take about two months and then we’ll know more about when the courts will be open.
In the meantime, the basketball courts can still be used at Victor Park for the time being. We also have several other outdoor basketball courts across the city at Greentown Park, BP Edwards Park, Wards Creek Park, and Needmore Park!
Last week, members of the Greer Police Department trained at the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office Center for Advanced Training. At this facility, Greer Police officers are able train with firearms, practice scenarios, and even hone their driving skills. 🚓
Public Services has given the green light and the water main issues in City Park that popped up this past Saturday have been resolved! The bathrooms closest to the amphitheater in the park are now open again. (Also, a subtle reminder of today’s Greer Farmers Market from 4:30 - 7:30 PM. The banner just happened to be at the bathroom we swear.) 😉
Join us this last week of August (we can’t believe how fast it has gone by either) for Greerview!
This week, we take a look back at: the recent Greer Police Department's Law Enforcement Memorial Softball Tournament, the mayor’s opening at the SC Economic Developers’ Association Institute session, and welcoming back students in the Creative Advancement Centers after school program at Tryon Rec Center.
Looking ahead, we have this week’s farmers market, our regularly scheduled City Council meeting on Tuesday, an upcoming career fair and more!

Students in the Creative Advancement Centers after-school program at Tryon Rec Center got a “welcome back” surprise this week!
Members of Victor Baptist Church donated school supplies, stickers, and snacks and filled up dozens of bags during a recent weekend of service. The bags were waiting at the rec center when students arrived for the first day of the after-school program on Monday.
Creative Advancement provides a safe place for students to get help with their homework, participate in enrichment activities, and enjoy a hot meal provided by Project Host.
Just a heads up to kids and parents headed to Kids Planet today: the 5-12 playground will be closed the entire day for maintenance. The playground will reopen tomorrow morning. The rest of Kids Planet will open today at 12 PM after the routine maintenance that takes place every Wednesday.
Back a few weeks ago, the Greer Police Department held another Coffee with a Cop gathering at Starbucks off of Hwy 101. It’s part of a continued effort for Greer Police to have a positive impact in the community and it gives citizens an opportunity to meet the person behind the badge. As you can imagine, lots of great moments and conversations were had. A huge kudos and thank you to everyone who came out!
It's time to check out your Greerview! Join us as we recap last week as well as look ahead to what’s coming up in the City of Greer.
