A heads up for anyone visiting City Hall tomorrow: the parking lot entrance from E Poinsett St.(side with roundabout entrance) will be closed for the majority of the day. Public Services will have a crane parked there removing a tree limb that has fallen near the train tracks. That side of the parking lot will reopen as soon as the crew can remove the limb. Please plan on using the Line St. side entrance for parking until the limb has been removed.
We’ve got a special announcement for all bourbon connoisseurs; NEAT Bourbon Bar is opening a location here in the City of Greer! The new bar will be located at 108 E Poinsett Street, and it marks their third location. There will be a wide selection once the bar opens, with an emphasis on standard bourbons alongside some harder to come by selections. Mayor Rick Danner welcomes NEAT to the City and is happy that “establishments are expanding, and they are choosing Greer for its sense of place and welcoming atmosphere.” We’ll keep you updated as development progresses!

A few weeks ago, Greer Fire Department made it rain on a movie set! (And no, not that kind of make it rain.) Congratulations to the Greer Baseball Club 12U All Stars for taking home the 2024 Diamond Youth Baseball Division 1 championship! The team will head to Louisiana soon to represent the City of Greer and the State of South Carolina in the DYB World Series. @greerprt has now claimed 3 state titles in the past 5 years. Great job to the players and coaches for taking home another state win!

The City of Greer Parks, Recreation & Tourism department has been busy at work the past two days with the SC Leadership Enhancement And Development Institute or SC LEAD. The SC LEAD program is one of the most comprehensive development programs for park and recreation professionals and our department is no exception! There have been 11 people in attendance from all over the state for an overview of the Greer PRT department’s current challenges, public safety initiatives, and upcoming projects.
Yesterday, Camp Greer kids got to experience their very own car auction! The “auction” took place at the Needmore Recreational Center and was a fun way for the kids to see some cool cars and go frantic with fake money. The cars included: a Greer Police Department car, the Greenville Triumph car, a City of Greer Parks, Recreation & Tourism car and the Rugrats Reptar mobile (definitely the best option.)
Just a heads up for anyone heading to City Park tomorrow: the swing arbors will be repaired starting tomorrow morning at around 7:30 AM. During the repair, there will be barricades blocking off the entire area. These barricades will begin on each side of the smaller fountain and wrap around the backside of the swing arbor and along the brick wall behind the arbor. You will still be able to access the sidewalk to walk around the fountain and swing arbor (you just won't be able to walk through the middle.) We will keep you updated and let you know when the swing arbor repairs are finished!

Both the Greer Baseball Club 10s and 12s are headed to their state tournaments today! The 10U Minors are competing in Columbia while the 12U Ozone team will be in Sumter. If they win, they get a spot at competing in the World Series. We wish them the best of luck!
The City of Greer wishes you a fun and safe Independence Day! As a reminder, all city offices, buildings, and facilities will be closed today. There will also be no trash collection today and normal trash pick-up will resume on Friday and Saturday.
Following up with an update about the Arlington Avenue speed humps: after a few delays, the speed humps have now been installed. There are a total of 5 new speed humps on the road.
