The City of Greer Golf Course is getting a multimillion dollar face lift.
"We have a $2.4 million construction project on our clubhouse in the pool area and also the parking lot," Assistant Director of Parks, Recreation & Tourism Red Watson said.
The renovations are underway now to bring the clubhouse up to date.
"Removing our cart fleet to the basement of the pro shop or enhancing and making cosmetic upgrades to the pro shop inside the dining room to the bride's room," Watson said.
They will convert some outdoor space as well.
"The pool area is going to be converted to another outdoor event space it will be unique to what we have in our inventory right now," Watson said.
The current pool space doesn’t work for the city the size of Greer.
"The size of the pool that is currently here was really more like a residential or a hotel size pool and it just didn’t meet the demand that we have from the community," Watson said.
These efforts are to make the space useable for everyone.
"Bringing more people out to the golf course that may not traditionally come out to play golf," Watson said.
With future projects like a connected walking trail in the works.
"Just continue to develop the property fully so that anybody and everybody can enjoy," Watson said.
The best part? Golfers can continue to make their tee times, since play will not be interrupted during the construction.
"We want everyone to come out and see it whether you play golf or not," Watson said.
