The City of Greer Public Services Department will be closing roads in Greer Station for some important work on the iconic brick pavers.
“We need to make an application of polymeric sand to those pavers,” Public Services Director Travis Durham said.
Public Services Director Travis Durham says this is a process called topdressing.
To keep those pavers in their position at their correct, installed height we’re not causing any holes any hazardous we’re not losing any bricks or pavers or anything of that nature,” Durham said.
It was first done during the CenterG project, but needs to be done periodically to keep those brick pavers in place.
“It’s going to be similar to the process that we would use on it athletic field where we’re gonna get that sand down. We’re gonna brush that sand. The only difference here is we’re gonna make sure we water it down to get that dust down but also to get that sand, lock the pavers back together,” Durham said.
The work will start on Monday, March 12, on the 100 block of Trade Street, which will be closed during that work. Weather permitting, the crews will work their way down to the 200 block on Tuesday, and the 300 block on Wednesday.
“It will cause some closures that were planning to work on block by block basis, down trade Street,” Durham said.
All work will be done from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. in an attempt to alleviate any disruption.
“Hopefully were able to get in and out of there with minimal disruption to the flow. That is our downtown business district,” Durham said.
