Did you know the City of Greer offers opportunities to get rid of your yard waste in an easy way?
“They look identical to your trash carts. The only difference is there going to be blue and they’re intended only for yard waste items,” Public Services Director Travis Durham said.
Public Services Director Travis Durham is talking about these yard waste carts.
“Our intention with those is so the resident has a receptacle to put those yard waste items in when we’re outside of that window of loose leaf collection,” Durham said.
These carts help make sure yard waste is separated from household garbage, and keeps items out of the storm drains.
“The side of the road is something we do a pick up for the larger stuff that we find the smaller stuff gets into the storm water system so there’s a prevention there,” Durham said.
The carts work the same as your garbage bins, and will be picked up by Meridian Waste on the same day as your scheduled trash pickup.
“And so it seems to be a win-win for everybody and it’s something that’s becoming more popular in the last few months that I think it’s ever been,” Durham said.
The carts have a one time fee of $55 and you can get one by calling City Hall.
