🎆 Freedom Blast 🎆 is tomorrow! We wanted to take the time to say thank you to everyone who has helped and help set up for Freedom Blast. It’s a monumental task each year and without you, Freedom Blast wouldn’t happen. With that said, we’ll see you all tomorrow at City Park at 6 PM for an evening of fun; get ready to Party like a Patriot!

🎆 Freedom Blast is only two days away! We’ll see you there this Saturday, June 29 starting at 6 PM in City Park! Update 6/26, 4:52 p.m.: The special event charge to park in the garage will not go into effect until after July 1. Parking there will remain free for the upcoming Freedom Blast. A heads up for all Greer residents and visitors planning on attending Freedom Blast or future events: Jason Street Parking Garage will have a $10 parking fee to park in the garage. The fee will only be in effect during special events going on in the city. During normal operation, there will be no charge to park in the garage.

City of Greer Fire Department Deputy Chief Josh Holzheimer was recently named to the South Carolina State Firefighters' Association Hall of Fame. Nominees inducted into the Hall of Fame must demonstrate outstanding contributions to the fire service beyond the local level. We are so proud of all Chief Holzheimer does for us here in Greer and for the fire service across the state. Please join us in congratulating him for this accomplishment!

Interested in a behind the scenes look at what makes the City of Greer tick? If so, you don’t want to miss out on this year’s Civics Academy! The Greer Civics Academy is a free ten-week course that allows residents to explore each and every city department to get a better understanding of how your local government works for you. Registration is now open for the Fall 2024 session and starts on September 5th with a rundown from City leadership as well as a tour of City Hall. Last night, the Greer City Council passed the city operating budget for the 24-25 fiscal year with a vote of 4-3. The budget goes into effect beginning on July 1, 2024. You can watch the council meeting and the final vote here: https://youtu.be/PsMo5k7GoFk

A heads up for any City of Greer residents or visitors: segments of Arlington Avenue will be temporarily closed over the coming days. The Public Services division will be installing new speed humps starting today, and it’s expected to take up to three days. Portions of the sidewalk on Arlington Ave. will also be replaced over the coming days. Public Services advises residents to not use their driveways for 2-4 days while the concrete sets.

Kids got to learn about bike and pool safety for the upcoming summer season and got some awesome prizes for testing their knowledge. Be on the lookout for more partnerships with Target along with Greer Fire and Greer PD!

In the wake of the water transmission line that was damaged a few days ago, we have some good news! Multiple city facilities have now had their waterlines flushed and water filters replaced. The water fountains at: Kids Planet, Century Park, Cannon Center, Stevens Field, and Victory Gym have all been turned back on. City Park outdoor restrooms and drinking fountains have also been turned back on. Thank you to Greer CPW for their hard work so far in getting the damaged waterline repaired!
