Car Seat Inspections
About the Car Seat Inspection Program
Kids of all ages need special care when they ride in vehicles. You may be surprised to learn that it can take up to 12 years for a child to be big enough for a regular seat belt. (Close to 5 feet tall and between 80 and 100 pounds). Until they reach that size and weight, they should be in car seats or booster seats for both their own comfort and more importantly for their protection in case of an accident. Throughout your child's life, they will take three car seat steps before reaching the safety belt.
As part of Safe Kids Upstate, the City of Greer Fire Department is a permanent car seat inspection station for child safety seats. Seats are inspected and installed by appointment on the first and third Wednesday of each month.
