At the August 8 City Council meeting, Mayor Rick Danner took time to honor several individuals who have made a profound impact on Greer by awarding them a Key to the City.
Jerry Balding previously served as the General Manager for Greer CPW for 20 years, and was instrumental in helping create the Greer we enjoy today. The Mayor touted Jerry's work ethic and kindness to those around him.
Alison Rauch with Greer CPW currently serves as the Public Information Officer for CPW. She is also on the board for the Greer Centennial Lions Club, is a board member for Greer Community Ministries, and often volunteers her time with organizations like Keep Greenville County Beautiful, The Blood Connection, and TreesUpstate.
12-year-old Ivey Tapp has been collecting donations for her birthday to donate to Greer Community Ministries her whole life. This past year was no exception--Ivey donated her largest trailer load of food yet along with a $20,000 donation.
Former City of Greer Mayor Don Wall was credited with taking on Greer when no one else would. He helped jump start economic development and change in the downtown area, and worked to annex properties into the City while he was Mayor which increased the tax base.
