The City of Greer Fire Department has once again been ranked one of the best in the country when it comes to fire protection services.
“The insurance service organization gives a rating to fire departments for suppression,” Deputy Chief Josh Holzheimer said.
Deputy Chief Josh Holzheimer says the ISO 1 rating helps secure lower fire insurance premiums for the community.
“Maintaining that and providing that to our citizens and our businesses in our area really helps them on their insurance side,” Holzheimer said.
Out of more than 37,000 departments nationwide, the Greer Fire Department is one of only 498 with an ISO 1 ranking.
“Training our firefighters, response to emergency or fire incident, and those types of things. Maintaining our equipment. Our communications center does a really good job of call processing times that’s a huge part of it,” Holzheimer said.
Every several years departments are evaluated for this rating, and Greer has earned it in the past as well.
“We’re providing exceptionally well to our citizens,” Holzheimer said.
Holzheimer says the ranking not only helps with community insurance costs but shows people living in Greer the department is up to certain standards.
“Commitment to making sure we provide the best public safety service that we can,” Holzheimer said.
The ISO is effective beginning on June 1.
