bucket truck

The City of Greer Public Services Department is getting ready to roll out a brand new bucket truck.

“It will be in addition to the bucket truck that we currently have in service for public services. Utilized on both the street maintenance and the grounds maintenance side,” Public Services Director Travis Durham said.

This after Public Services Director Travis Durham says they’ve been down a truck for more than a year.

“We’re really excited to be able to get it into our fleet and into our line and into our hands to be able to use it,” Durham said.

You’ll soon see this truck out cutting down tree limbs and doing other work throughout the city.

“It also helps us in sign, banner, Christmas decoration installations. We use bucket trucks actually two of them to install the Christmas trees that are at City Park,” Durham said.

With a nearly $184,000 price tag, the truck comes with some key safety features like the cage above the cab.

“And for us that is protection for us and anyone who is in the cab whether it be tree limbs, signs, banners, decorations, anything overhead,” Durham said.

The Public Services team is excited to be back up to full bucket truck capacity and put this new tool to work.

“We should have it out on the streets or in a park in the coming weeks I feel sure,” Durham said.
