The City of Greer will be conducting repair work on the swing arbor at the playground near the Center for the Arts this following Monday the 15th. For the safety of Greer citizens, the playground will be closed during the work to prevent anyone from entering the work area. The playground will reopen the following Tuesday morning, May 16th. Thank you for your cooperation!

Congratulations to Greer’s own Alison Rauch of Greer CPW! Alison was recently named the Make a Wish South Carolina W.I.S.H Woman of the year after raising $13,793 for Make a Wish through the Trailblaze Challenge. Along with other fundraisers, she’s helped grant 14 wishes across the Upstate. Alison helped to orchestrate a wish for Ellie Horton back during the holidays, and partnered with the City to surprise her with a trip to Disney. Ellie was once one of the kids on the long wait list to have their wish granted. There are currently 85 kids in Greenville and Spartanburg Counties on the wait list for wishes. This week is Professional Municipal Clerks Week, and we want to give a huge shoutout to Greer's Municipal Clerk Tammy Duncan. Tammy has been with the City of Greer for more than 38 years. In her role as Municipal Clerk, she serves as part record keeper part historian for the city. Please join us in thanking Tammy for her commitment to our community!

County roads in the city including Country Club Road and intersections including East Arlington Road/North Line Street are on the list of county controlled high priority areas. Congratulations to our Cultural Arts Supervisor, Robin Byouk, on her 50th show as the artistic director with the Greer Children’s Theatre last weekend. Every flower contains the name of one of her productions! Robin has been our Cultural Arts Supervisor since 2009!

Due to inclement weather, our food truck rollout will take place indoors tonight. Food trucks will be set up outside at the city hall traffic circle. Our events hall will have tables set up for everyone to enjoy their food indoors! Bands, beverages, sponsors and other vendors will be located indoors as well!

Update! Per our Public Services Department, Brookshire Road will be open today, but will have a partial lane closure at Cotton Road.

The City of Greer is excited to announce four proposed community projects which will total a $100 million investment over the next four years. The initiative includes facility and land acquisitions to build a new fire station in the Groce Meadow Road area, a public safety police & fire training facility on Hood Road, and a new 500+ spot parking garage on Depot Street. During a press conference today at Victor Gym, Greer City Leadership unveiled plans for the fourth project, a brand new sports and events complex, as the final 60 million dollar investment in the city’s ForGreer Initiative. Did you know that nearly 26% of the total street maintenance labor hours spent by the public services department went towards loose leaf collection this past year? And not to worry either, your 115 loads of leaves went toward a good cause, as they were sent off to a local farm to be used as compost!

The energy of innovation filled Greer City Hall for The Platform at Greer's Bootcamp pitch event last Thursday. The competition was the finale of The Platform’s two-day program for entrepreneurs. Seven companies worked one-on-one with their coaches who included Greer City Council member Karuiam Booker. Wittez Vertical Printing won the pitch event. They earned a prize package that includes $10K in legal, financial, and marketing services.
