Assistant City Engineer

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for an Assistant City Engineer.   Under general supervision performs complex technical and professional work in the land development, engineering design, storm water management design and construction of public works and related projects.  Reports to the City Engineer/Department Head.

Responsibilities: Assist with achieving department goals and objectives established by Department Head or City Administrator.  These functions may include but not be limited to:  Manage all aspects of the storm water program to include overall program management, meetings, plan reviews, site inspections and documentation, keeping track of all requirements and deadlines/schedules of the SCDHEC Construction General Permit requirements.  Manage the City’s Phase II MS4 program.  Reviews development plans for compliance.  Manage Capital Improvement projects. Assist with paving/road maintenance program.  Define scopes of projects, prepare Request for Proposals (RFP’s) and cost estimates, manage design, construction and contract administration of Capital Improvement, storm drainage, sidewalk, streetscape and other municipal projects.  Serve as Project Manager on complex engineering and/or infrastructure projects.  Coordinate meetings and requests from developers, citizens, contractors, engineers and attorneys.  Handle internal and citizen requests in a timely manner.  Prepare and/or participate in City Council agenda items and presentations relating to department activities.  Coordinate, review and/or prepare traffic studies and surveys and make recommendations for traffic control devices, traffic calming etc.  Provide technical support to City Engineer and other departments.

Job requirements: Bachelor's degree in civil, structural or related engineering field with a minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in engineering / public works operations and administration, stormwater manager or engineer or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Must be certified as a S.C. Professional Engineer or obtain within one (1) year from date of hire.  Must possess or obtain within six (6) months of hire, a certified erosion prevention & sediment control inspector (CEPSCI).  Must possess a valid state driver’s license.

Hours:  Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Salary:  Salary dependent upon experience, salary range $50,008 - $83,014.

Payroll and Benefits Clerk

The City of Greer is seeking a Payroll and Benefits Clerk in the Finance Department.  This position performs payroll and technical fiscal work in the City Finance Department.

Responsibilities: Processes City payroll; maintains payroll records; computes payments showing all deductions, special payments, contributions, and special withholdings;  prints direct deposit notifications; sets schedules and deadlines for payroll; verifies invoices and prepares checks for payment of funds to proper agencies of state and federal withholdings, employee benefits, and voluntary deductions monthly, including garnishments, deferred compensation, supplemental insurance, health insurance, and retirement benefits, etc.; maintains knowledge of any rate and procedural changes; reconciles general ledger payroll liability accounts and prepares correcting journal entries as necessary; prepares monthly reports for various departments detailing payroll expenditures; prepares biweekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, schedules, and other information relating to benefits and payroll, including federal and state reports; serves as primary  technical contact with payroll software provider; serves as liaison with Public Employee Benefits Authority; and performs various personnel related projects.

Job Requirements: Associate’s degree in bookkeeping, accounting or related field and three (3) years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping; experience with payroll, preferably with a municipal government; must have a valid state issued driver’s license.

Hours:  Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; additional hours as scheduled.

Salary:  Grade 109 – Salary dependent on experience; minimum salary $34,369.

Public Services Worker II / Building Maintenance

The City of Greer is accepting applications for a Public Services Worker II/Building Maintenance in our Public Services Department. 

Responsibilities: Various labor duties involving cleaning streets, trimming limbs, cutting grass, and repairing sidewalks, picking up trash and debris and cleaning ditches and drains, etc.  General building maintenance which involves electrical, plumbing, mechanical, construction and equipment repairs.  Paints, plasters and other needed repairs to walls, doors, etc.  Monitors A/C and service as needed.  Will operate variety of equipment and tools. 

Job Requirements:  Must have a high school diploma or GED.  Minimum two (2) years of experience in labor work.  Must have working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical and construction.   Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license and able to pass drug screen and criminal/credit background check.

Salary: Minimum salary $26,778 (Grade 103); dependent on experience.

Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, M-F; hours will vary at times due to weather, City festivals, etc.

Summer Camp Counselors

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for multiple Summer Camp Counselor positionsin the Recreation Department.

Responsibilities: Oversees and plans activities for youth, ages 6-13, as well as organizes and implements games/themed activities related to the camp.  Counselors may be individually responsible for small groups of campers &/or participate in large group activities.

Job Requirements:  Applicants must be attending or graduated from high school. Must be certified in CPR and first aid (classes may be offered).  Must be able to drive a City of Greer mini bus (training will be available).  Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background checks.  Must have valid state issued driver’s license.

Hours:  Monday - Friday, hours will vary between 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM; up to 40 hours per week.

Salary:  Minimum salary:  $10.00 hour

Summer Camp dates:  Must be available June 11 - August 3, 2017 (closed July 2 – 6).

Events / Rentals Assistants (part-time)

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for Multiple Part-Time Events Assistants in the Parks and Recreation Department.  This position will assist with the functions held at the City of Greer Events Center. 

Responsibilities:  Assists with the coordination of activities and events for the facility/park, which involves setting up, decorating and executing parties and events; assists in the preparation for the event to include renting facilities, ensuring cleanliness and that rules and regulations are followed by participants; involves repetitious lifting and moving of tables and chairs in set-up and take-down of event; Interacts with the public by providing facility/park tours, greeting visitors, providing directions; Provides information to the public regarding fees, availability and requirements for use; may assist with the coordination of the events calendar;  Maintains records and files on activities and events; Assists with Events Division inventory and related supplies and records.

Job requirements: High School diploma/GED. Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Hours:  Hours will vary depending upon schedule of events; primarily Thursday through Sunday and evenings; hours dependent on event schedules.

Salary: $11.87 hour
