Detention Officer

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for a Detention Officer in our Police Department.

Responsibilities: booking inmates into the jail; completing required paperwork; obtaining photographs and fingerprints; ensuring welfare and security of inmates while incarcerated; processing inmates for release;  transport inmates to county detention facilities;  acting as desk officer in meeting public; answering phones, taking messages, routing calls; providing assistance in regard to warrants; taking written reports; entering information into records management system; receiving, reviewing, preparing and/or submitting a variety of reports and documents.

Job Requirements: High School Diploma/GED and basic computer skills.  Must be able to successfully complete a three-week training class at the SC Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia which includes a physical fitness test and must be completed within one year of hire date.  Must be able to work varying shifts, up to 12 hour per shift.  Must be able to qualify with department issued firearm;  Must have a valid state issued driver’s license.

Hours:  Varying shifts, up to 12 hour per shift.  Training will take place from either 7 AM to 7 PM or 7 PM to 7 AM

Salary: Grade 106 – Salary dependent of experience; minimum salary $29,689 year.

Judicial Services Officer (part-time)

The City of Greer is seeking a part-time Judicial Services Officer for the Police Department.

Responsibilities:   Maintains and secures property and evidence room; maintains order and security of the presiding judge, court staff, jury; security and transportation of prisoners; operation of vehicles and various types of office equipment; general clerical duties including typing, copying, filing, data entry, report generation, faxing and telephone operations.      

Job Requirements:   Requires an Associate’s Degree in a related field and three (3) years of experience in law enforcement; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have or be able to obtain certified Class I LE or Class 3 SLE Police Officer with the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. Must possess a valid state issued driver's license.

Hours:  Monday through Friday, day shift, additional hours as needed and assigned, up to 28 hours per week.

Salary:   $16.52 an hour.

Events Assistant (part-time)

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for a Part-Time Events Assistant in the Parks and Recreation Department.  This position will assist with the functions held at the City of Greer Events Center. 

Responsibilities:  Interacts with the public by responding to phone calls, taking messages, routing calls, providing facility/park tours, greeting visitors, providing directions; Provides information to the public regarding fees, availability and requirements for use; may assist with the coordination of the events calendar;  Maintains records and files on activities and events, receives and receipts payments; Assists with Events Division inventory and related supplies and records; Assists with the coordination of activities and events for the facility/park, which involves setting up and executing events; assists in the preparation for the event to include renting facilities, ensuring cleanliness and that rules and regulations are followed by participants; involves repetitious lifting and moving of tables and chairs in set-up and take-down of event.

Job requirements: High School diploma/GED. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, preferred.  Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Hours:  Monday through Friday, hours will vary between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; approximately 10-15 office hours per week. Weekend and evening hours will vary depending upon schedule of events.

Salary: $12.02 hour.

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for Multiple Part-Time Events Assistants in the Parks and Recreation Department.  This position will assist with the functions held at the City of Greer Events Center. 

Responsibilities:  Assists with the coordination of activities and events for the facility/park, which involves setting up, decorating and executing parties and events; assists in the preparation for the event to include renting facilities, ensuring cleanliness and that rules and regulations are followed by participants; involves repetitious lifting and moving of tables and chairs in set-up and take-down of event; Interacts with the public by providing facility/park tours, greeting visitors, providing directions; Provides information to the public regarding fees, availability and requirements for use; may assist with the coordination of the events calendar;  Maintains records and files on activities and events; Assists with Events Division inventory and related supplies and records.

Job requirements: High School diploma/GED. Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Hours:  Hours will vary depending upon schedule of events; primarily Thursday through Sunday and evenings; hours dependent on event schedules.

Salary: $11.87 hour
